Kresimir Buden was born in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. After finishing the School of Applied Art and Design, he started to work as a graphic designer and illustrator. He is a Member of the Croatian Society of Independent Artists (HZSU) and the Croatian Association of Fine Art Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH).
Every Splash piece is hand made and hand-painted by me and my molding/production partners. The materials used for the 'splatter' are molded polyurethane resin and it has great strength and weight (not cheap plastic or some mass-produced material). There are no two same Splashes, there are similar or the same series, but they're always is some difference in details due to hand process. Furthermore, every art piece is original.
Buden belongs to the small group of the graffiti-art population who did not channel its youthful frustrations and potential into quick and frivolous vandalization of the public property, but rather finished the School of Applied Art and Design. He started working as a designer at the age of 18. In that sense, he ended up on the ‘other side of the fence’ and adopted the way of thinking of academically educated artists, such as Keith Haring or Jean-Marie Basquiat, known for finding inspiration in the raw creative energy of graffiti-art amateurs, and adopting the aesthetic forms and stylistic elements of the genre’.
